As officers they have learned how to protect themselves against the danger and violence they face in their job. Now they train children to avoid and escape harm and violence.

National leading children’s safety educator/speaker and founder of radKIDS Stephen Daley conducted the three- day instructor training and certification at the Warwick Police Department.

"It is a unique, hands-on educational program that empowers and provides realistic options and choices for children to recognize, avoid, resist and, if necessary, escape violence, abduction, and harm," West Warwick Police Lt. Joseph Gemma told the Daily Times in a previous interview.

West Warwick Police Chief Peter T. Brousseau said it is a valuable program for his officers because everything they learn they bring back to the children in the community.

"This program is important with the society we live in now," he said. Brousseau gave examples of the number of abductions and attempted abductions that make headlines almost on a weekly basis.

"The more information we can give our kids to protect themselves, the better off they will be," said Brousseau.

RadKIDS is the National leader and most effective children’s safety education program available today. The non-profit organization is based in Harwich Port, Mass.
